KSP investigating Jamestown fire last week

The Jamestown Fire Department responded to a blaze at an abandoned structure last Thursday.

According to Jamestown Fire Chief Jeff Landers, firefighters were called out just before 6:30 p.m. Thursday to Viewpoint Road off Boat Dock Road for the report of a structure fire.

When firefighters arrived on scene, an abandoned structure that was in the process of being torn down was fully engulfed in flames.

Landers said firefighters were able to save an outbuilding and a large barn from the fire.

Fire crews were on scene for about 3.5 hours.

Russell County EMS was placed on standby due to high temperatures at the time.

The Russell County Sheriff’s Office also assisted at the scene and Kentucky State Police is now investigating the blaze.
