One person was transported to the hospital following a two-vehicle collision on Highway 127 yesterday afternoon.
According to Jamestown Police, the accident occurred just before 3 p.m. near Welfare Baptist Church on Highway 127 when a 2007 Toyota operated by 43-year-old David Piotrowski of Jamestown traveling south crashed into the back of a 2006 GMC box truck operated by 50-year-old Tony Withers of Russell Springs.
Withers reportedly hit his brakes trying to avoid a collision with the car in front of him when Piotrowski’s car crashed into the back of the truck.
A passenger in the Toyota, Ernestine Ramsey, was transported by EMS to Russell County Hospital for treatment of injuries.
According to Jamestown Police, Withers was cited for failure to maintain insurance and expired registration plates.
Officer Savannah Harlan of the Jamestown Police Department is the investigating officer. She was assisted on scene by the Russell County Sheriff’s Office and Jamestown Fire Department.
