Social media was abuzz Sunday evening after footage of what looks to be a young black bear was reportedly spotted near Jamestown Elementary.
According to reports, the bear was spotted between Jamestown Elementary and Valley Heights Apartments.
No issues with the bear were reported, but residents in the area are asked to be aware and cautious when outdoors.
The bear sighting has been reported to the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife, which typically handles cases of bear sightings.
Kentucky Fish and Wildlife says calls about bears typically increase in June and July.
This is on the heels of a sighting of a bear on the Baugh Branch trail near Lake Cumberland State Park just a couple weeks ago.
