Lake Cumberland region still with ‘low’ level of COVID spread

Russell County and the rest of the 10-county Lake Cumberland District are once again “green” this week as the region still has the lowest level of COVID-19 spread.

Montgomery and Bath counties are the lone counties in the state in the “yellow,” or medium level of COVID spread this week, according to new data by the Kentucky Department of Public Health.

The latest seven-day metrics reported by the CDC shows that Kentucky added 1,493 new cases between March 30th and April 6th. That’s down from the 2,038 new cases added the week prior.

The latest report includes 57 new deaths, an increase from the previous week’s 49. Kentucky’s current case rate remained at 45.6 per 100,000 people as of Friday.
