High winds on Friday created a large number of power outages across the Lake Cumberland area and across the state.
At its peak, nearly 50 percent of South Kentucky RECC customers were without power due to the storm which included more than 5,000 Russell County homes and businesses, and crews have been working since then to restore power.
WJRS News caught up with South Kentucky RECC spokesperson Morghan Blevins. She said the storm created many challenges for crews trying to restore power in Russell County.
Blevins said South Kentucky RECC appreciates everyone’s patience as they continue to work until everyone has their power restored.
