Truesdell A. Meece, 100, Russell County Native

Truesdell A. Meece passed away peacefully at his home in New Winchester, Hendricks County, Indiana on February 23, 2023.  He was 100 years old.

True was born January 30, 1923, in Eli, Russell County, Kentucky to the late Avery and Lora Effie (Foley) Meece.  He was a lifelong, avid farmer who was never more at home than when working the fields or tending his cattle.  After moving to Indiana in the early 1950s, True worked for P. R. Mallory as a tool and die maker and estimator.  He was later employed by Naval Avionics where he retired as a shop supervisor.  True never retired from farming.

For True there was no greater treasure than his wife, Ethel (Chapman) Meece whom he married December 23, 1944, in Russell County, Kentucky.  The two eventually settled in New Winchester, Indiana where together they owned and operated T & E Registered Angus Cattle Farms.  Ethel was his love, his life, and his joy for 55 years, until her passing in 1999.

True is survived by his brother, Avery Roger Meece (Mary Ellen) of Noblesville, Indiana and his loving and devoted niece, Charlene Harris, of Russell Springs, Kentucky.  Additional survivors include many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Along with his parents and wife, True was preceded in death by his sisters, Afteel Dayette Smith (Charles Bascum), Isla Gladys Smith (Ernest) and a brother, Dwight Cromwell Meece (Doris).

A visitation will be held February 26, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM EST at Whitestone Christian Church in Coatesville, Indiana.

The Funeral will take place February 27, 2023, at Parksridge Church of God, in Russell Springs, Kentucky.  Visitation is from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM CST.  Service will begin at 1:00 PM with Bro. Billy Silverman officiating.  Burial to follow at Parksridge Cemetery.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Intrepid Hospice whose kindness, professionalism and guidance assured  True’s peaceful journey home to his heavenly Father.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hendricks County Senior Services: 1201 Sycamore Lane, Danville, Indiana 46122.

Truesdell Meece’s arrangements are entrusted to Helton & Harris Funeral Home of Danville, Indiana, and Bernard Funeral Home of Russell Springs, Kentucky.
