Russell County’s Scott Hammond was named the Appalachia High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas Kentucky Task Force Officer of the Year.
Hammond was chosen as the recipient of the award from about 95 officers in the state of Kentucky.
Hammond is a detective with the Kentucky State Police and Columbia Area Drug Task Force.
He has been part of the Columbia Task Force for about 20 years and Kentucky State Police for 25 years.
He was selected in part for investigations regarding doctors and medical professionals who have been accused of over-prescribing medications.
