The unemployment rate in Russell County increased 0.8 percent from September to October, according to new data from the Kentucky Center for Statistics.
Russell County’s unemployment rate comes in at 5.3 percent, which is tied with Wayne County for highest in the 10-county Lake Cumberland district.
McCreary County was at 5.2 percent, Adair at 4.9 percent, Pulaski and Clinton each at 4.5 percent, Casey 3.8 percent, Taylor 3.6 percent, Green County at 3.4 percent, and Cumberland County at 3.1 percent, which was one of the lowest unemployment rates in the state.
The average unemployment in the Lake Cumberland area was at 4.4 percent.
