Christmas tree recycling program starts Dec. 26

The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife is urging citizens to donate their used cut Christmas trees to help the state’s underwater habitat.

Beginning Monday, December 26th, the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources will be collecting natural Christmas trees at several drop-off locations across the state for its Christmas for the Fishes program.

The two closest locations to Russell County are the fish and wildlife regional office in Somerset at 135 Realty Lane and in Campbellsville at Crazy Horse Archery and Tackle at 2422 New Columbia Rd.

Collection will continue until January 15th. Donated trees must be free of all lights, tinsel, ornaments and any other decorations. Limbs, wreaths or other brush are not encouraged.
