Arctic air set to invade Lake Cumberland area

The National Weather Service says for the Lake Cumberland area to expect minor snow accumulations, wind gusts to 40 mph and wind chills bottoming out in the -15 to -20 degree range late Thursday night into Friday morning.

There will be widespread rain Thursday afternoon that will change to snow Thursday night before ending Friday morning as well as very cold temperatures and a possible “flash freeze” that will negatively impact travel.
The bitterly cold temperatures will continue through the Christmas holiday weekend.
