With Tuesday night’s community performance and senior send-off, the Mighty Laker Band’s marching season has officially come to a close. The band, which finished fourth in the state in Class 3A this past weekend, now enters an off-season where Band Director Curtis Ervin expects his young group to mature before next competition season.
Ervin talked with WJRS NEWS about what’s next for the Laker band…
The 2022 Laker band finished fourth in the state in Class 3A, finished first in Class 1A at the Bands of America Super Regionals in St. Louis, won Grand Champion of the South Laurel Cardinal Classic in London and the Mark Twain Invitational in Columbia, and was Reserve Grand Champion of the Taylor County Marching Invitational.
