Russell County 4-H shows out at state shooting sports competition

Several Russell County 4-H participants brought home trophies over the weekend from the Kentucky 4-H State Shooting Sports Competition, the culminating event for the state 4-H Shooting Sports program.

Individually, Brayden Popplewell won first place BB and first place .22 sport rifle, Andrea Russell won first place black powder flintlock rifle, Sarah Stephens won first place black powder flintlock rifle and second place black powder pistol, Zach Walters placed second in black powder percussion rifle, Vinson Kerns placed second in bowhunter archery and second place in target archery, and Eli Foley placed third in black powder pistol.

Saturday’s competition was held at Bluegrass Sportsmen’s League in Wilmore while Sunday’s action was held at the Miller Welch – Central Kentucky Wildlife Management Area in Berea.
