Russell Springs, Dunnville residents charged following Columbia police investigation

A contraband and drug trafficking investigation by the Columbia Police Department in neighboring Adair County came to an end on Monday. The investigation began back on May 4th of this year when officers were notified by Adair County Regional Jail after suspected narcotics were found by deputy jailers there.

After a preliminary investigation, evidence was presented to an Adair County grand jury with two indictments being returned. Skylar Riggins, age 26, of Russell Springs, was charged with conspiracy to traffic in a controlled substance as well as with being a persistent felony offender.

Brent Grimsley, age 40, of Dunnville, was also charged with trafficking in a controlled substance methamphetamine, trafficking in a controlled substance drug unspecified, promoting contraband, and with being a persistent felony offender.

Grimsley was located in Russell County and taken into custody before being transported to the Adair County Regional Jail. Riggins was served his indictment warrant while he was lodged at the jail in Adair County.

CPD Sgt. Evan Burton was the investigating officer in this case. He was assisted during investigation by CPD Officer Justin Cross and Adair Regional Jail staff.
