A possible fungus infestation at the Pulaski County Park beach area on Lake Cumberland led to its closure on Friday, according to a report in the Somerset Commonwealth Journal.
A sign was posted outside the beach area on Friday afternoon, stating that the beach was temporarily closed.
Stuart Spillman, Environmental Director with the Lake Cumberland District Health Department, told the newspaper the nature of the complaint of which he was aware was that someone had gotten a rash at the beach.
A conference call between local officials, the health department, and Corps of Engineers is scheduled for today to address what needs to be done and identify available options.
