Russell County Lady Laker Golfer Madalyn Wright qualified for the 2A state tournament with her performance in the 2A state qualifier at Taylor County earlier this week.
Wright shot a 102 in the invitational, which qualified her for the 2A state tournament at a date and location to be announced.
With a young team that consists of only one upperclassmen along with an 8th grader and two 7th graders playing in their first tournament, the Lady Lakers shot a team score of 458.
Wright led the way with a score of 102, followed by 8th grader Carleen Meyers at 111, 7th grader Catherine Wright at 115, and 7th grader Carly Shearer at 130.
On Wednesday, the Lady Lakers played at the Henry Clay Invitational in Lexington, shooting a team score of 473.
Madalyn Wright led the way with a 97, followed by Meyers with a 112, Catherine Wright at 118, and Carly Shearer at 146.
The Lady Lakers will play a 9-hole match at Lincoln County today.
