Russell County native Steve Payne has landed a new job as special assistant to the head coach at Cleveland State University.
Payne brings over 30 years of collegiate basketball coaching experience to Cleveland State, and most recently served as an assistant coach for the University of Missouri-Kansas City men’s basketball program. Prior to his arrival there, the Russell Springs native served as the head men’s basketball coach at Tennessee Tech University from 2011-2019.
Payne is a graduate of Russell County High School and earned his bachelor’s degree from Union College.
