Russell Co. no longer in drought

Following recent heavy rainfall that came through the area this week, Russell County and the surrounding area is no longer in a drought, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor and the National Weather Service.

A portion of Adair County falls within the Abnormally Dry and in moderate drought category but, for the most part our region has improved over the last few weeks.

Agricultural products continue to show signs of drought stress following the drought conditions earlier this summer, according to the National Weather Service, but late crops are showing signs of recovery in recent weeks.
