Columbia house fire likely caused by lightning

A house fire in Columbia was likely caused by a lightning strike, according to officials in Adair County.

The fire occurred at around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday at a residence on Pear Tree Lane in Columbia, owned by Dean Adams.

Firefighters were able to control the fire quickly, and the home sustained moderate damage.

Fire officials believe a lightning strike caused the blaze, and crews were on scene for more than two hours battling the flames.
