Adair man airlifted following motorcycle collision near Russell-Adair line

An Adair County man was airlifted following a motorcycle collision on Montpelier Road near the Adair-Russell County line.

According to the Adair County Sheriff’s Office, the collision occurred around 8:21 p.m. Thursday. Preliminary investigations indicated that Patrick Loy, age 32 of Columbia, and a passenger, Cara Pemberton, age 34 of Russell Springs, were traveling toward Russell County on a 2007 Harley Davidson when Loy attempted a left turn on to Old Montpelier Road.

A 2014 Ford Edge operated by Whitney Coe, age 30, of Columbia, came over a rise and was unable to avoid the motorcycle that was in her lane making the turn, resulting in a head-on collision.

Loy and Pemberton were treated on scene by Adair County EMS and Loy was transported to T.J. Health Columbia and later airlifted to the University of Louisville Hospital.

Pemberton was transported by private vehicle to Russell County Hospital and Coe was uninjured in the accident.

Deputy Chandler Staten with the Adair County Sheriff’s Office is continuing the investigation. He was assisted on scene by Chief Deputy Brandon Hitch, Columbia-Adair County Fire, and Adair County EMS.
