Lawson, Luttrell named first team all-state

Two Russell County Laker Baseball players were named first team all-state by the Kentucky Baseball Coaches Association.

Seniors Nathan Lawson and Cody Luttrell were named to the team, along with 20 other players from around the state.

Lawson boasts a team-leading 51 hits, 45 RBI, 14 doubles, 12 home runs, and .464 batting average.

Lawson’s 12 home runs also ranks fourth in the state.

On the mound, Lawson boasts a 0.85 earned run average (ERA) which ranks top 10 in the state. At the time of writing, Lawson has 10 wins on the season and has struck out 115 batters (6th in the state).

Luttrell was among the top pitchers in the state this season, with a 0.50 ERA (5th in the state) and 132 strikeouts (2nd in the state).

Luttrell also leads the state with 12 wins on the season.
