Kathy J. Haynes-Ellis, age 68 of Russell Springs

Kathy J. Haynes-Ellis, of Russell Springs, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at Fair Oaks Health and Rehabilitation, in Jamestown.  She was 68 years of age.

Born July 30, 1953, in Somerset, she was a daughter of the late Willie and Betty Watkins Haynes.  Kathy was a former clerk at South Kentucky Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation and a member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.  She turned a hobby of growing flowers and herbs into a business of making handcrafted bath and body products, which she aptly named “Preserving Thyme.”  Kathy was also a member of the Sheltowee Artisan Guild.  In her free time, she enjoyed boating and being out on the lake.  Kathy was an animal-lover and enjoyed all of her “critters.”  She also had a deep love for her family and she will be missed by all that knew her.

Survivors include her husband, Mark Ellis, of Russell Springs, whom she wed on January 1, 1993; a daughter, Heather Stevens, of Lexington; a son, Mark Ellis, Jr., of Pasco, Washington; two sisters, Vicky (and Kevin) Cordell, of Somerset, and Tamara Diamond, of Middlesboro; and six grandchildren, Soren Quinata, Jacqueline Ellis, Gianna Ellis, Mark Ellis, III, Asher Stevens White, and Isabella Ellis.

In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by her step-mother, Violet Haynes.

A Memorial Service will be held for Kathy at 4:00 P.M. CST, on Sunday, June 12, 2022, at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 250 French Valley Court, in Russell Springs, with Bro. Doug Couch officiating.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. CST, until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. These donations will be used to provide an Appreciation Dinner for the employees of Fair Oaks Health and Rehabilitation, in gratitude for the excellent care they provided to Kathy. Donations can be mailed to P.O. Box 1011, Russell Springs, KY 42642.

Bernard Funeral Home in Russell Springs is in charge of the arrangements.
