Heat index could exceed 100 degrees this week

High temperatures and potentially dangerous humidity levels today through Wednesday could send the heat index to 100 degrees or higher in some cases, according to the National Weather Service in Louisville.

That means those working outside should take breaks in the shade as often as possible and stay hydrated and elderly individuals or those without air conditioning should frequently be checked up on. High temperatures also bring an added danger to unattended children or pets in vehicles and extra attention should be paid when parking vehicles.
