Spring turkey season begins Saturday

Kentucky’s statewide spring turkey season opens Saturday, April 16th and runs through Sunday, May 8th, and state wildlife officials are expecting a good number of birds to be harvested this season

The statewide 2021 turkey brood survey showed that hens produced an average of 3.2 poults, allowing for more never-before-hunted birds in the fields and woods this spring.

Hunters are allowed a limit of two bearded or male birds during the spring season, but no more than one can be harvested per day.

An annual hunting license and a spring turkey permit are required for hunting turkeys during the spring season.

All wild turkey harvests must be reported using the department’s “Telecheck” check-in system. This can be done online or by phone at 800-245-4263.
