Man taken into custody without issue after incident in Jamestown

A man was taken into custody by local law enforcement following an incident Wednesday morning in Jamestown where a gun was reportedly involved.

Jamestown Police, Russell Springs Police, the Russell County Sheriff’s Office, and Kentucky State Police responded to the scene yesterday and entered the Old Skaggs Store building on East Cumberland Avenue where the man was believed to be located, but did not make contact with the individual at that location.

At around 11:30 a.m., law enforcement took the man into custody near the 4 Seasons Car Wash in Jamestown without incident.

Jamestown Police Chief Jeff Kerns said the man, who was not named by police, was taken to a mental health facility by law enforcement officers, and no officers were harmed during the incident.
