Lady Laker Softball splits weekend contests in Myrtle Beach

The Russell County High School Lady Laker Softball team is in Myrtle Beach, participating in the Cal Ripken Classic.

The Lady Lakers played two games over the weekend, splitting the two contests.

The Lady Lakers defeated Our Lady Sacred Heart by a score of 6-2 on Saturday.

Tarryn Reynolds got the win pitching for Russell County, going 7 innings and giving up just two runs on six hits and striking out 8 batters.

Addie Davis drove in two runs on the day, and Reynolds and Payton Kinnett each drove in one.

Also on Saturday, the Lady Lakers took on Keystone Oaks and fell by a score of 4-2.

Reynolds went 3-3 at the late and drove in a run. Emma Popplewell also drove in a run for the Lady Lakers.

Kiara Kemp picked up the loss pitching for the Lakers. Kemp pitched 4 innings, giving up 4 runs (only 1 earned) on 5 hits and striking out 3.

The Lady Lakers are now 6-6 on the season.
