The Russell Springs Fire Department responded to multiple calls of fires at the same property between Wednesday, Dec. 15 and Thursday, Dec. 16.
Russell Springs Fire Assistant Chief Mark Barnett told WJRS News that fire crews responded Wednesday afternoon to a lot on East Highway 80 owned by Onza Wilson.
Barnett said it was reported the land owner was burning trash on the property when the fire got out of control and damaged the half-acre lot. Fire crews were able to contain the fire in the lot and avoid any further damage.
Fire crews were also dispatched Thursday morning to the same property when an 8×10 building on the property owned by Wilson caught fire, resulting in a total loss of the building.
Fire crews remained on scene for about 45 minutes for each call.
Russell Springs Fire Department reminds people to use extra caution if burning outdoors as weather conditions can cause a fire to easily get out of control.
