The Laker Basketball team put together one of its best performances of the season on Friday, as the Lakers went toe-to-toe with the district leader Clinton County Bulldogs, falling 51-45.
The Lakers held a 26-25 lead at halftime and trailed by one going into the 4th quarter. The game was competitive throughout with the Lakers only trailing by one point with 30 seconds remaining. The Lakers had a chance to tie the game on their final offensive possession trailing 48-45, but a traveling call would ruin the Lakers upset bid, as Greg Lundy’s squad fell to 0-6 on the season as the Bulldogs moved to 6-0.
Mayes Gosser led the scoring for the Lakers with 15 points, followed by Owen Loy with 11, and Trace Stringer with 9.
Next up for the Lakers: a matchup on Tuesday with Frederick Douglass High School (Lexington, KY) in the Panther Holiday Shootout on Tuesday. That game will be at Knox Central High School.
