Straight line winds flip houseboat at State Dock

Straight line winds that came through the Lake Cumberland area at roughly 70 miles per hour Monday evening were reportedly the cause behind a houseboat that flipped near State Dock.

There were six occupants on the boat at the time of the incident, according to Kentucky Fish and Wildlife and witnesses near the scene. All occupants were rescued from the water and treated for minor injuries.

The occupants were wearing life jackets.

Another State Dock boat was reportedly damaged by the winds. The other boat reportedly began to sink about 15 minutes after the first one but dock workers were able to get to it and drag it on the bank before it was completely submerged.

That boat was located near Cemetery Island in the area of Beaver and Otter Creeks.

The incident occurred at about 7 p.m. according to Kentucky Fish and Wildlife.
