Russell County Schools to provide basic school supplies for students

The Russell County School District will provide basic school supplies for students this upcoming school year, like they did last year, according to Superintendent Michael Ford.

Ford made the announcement during Monday’s Board of Education meeting,

There may be exceptions for certain items though. For example, certain items like specific graphing calculators needed for dual-credit classes would be excluded.

“We will again be providing those necessary school supplies, like last year, so parents and guardians don’t need to worry about going out and buying pencils, paper, crayons, and all those things,” Ford said. “Those big-ticket individual items, students may need to purchase individually though.”

Ford reminds everyone that if a student or family has a specific need like clothing, contact the school’s family resource center or the board of education at 270-343-3191.
