New business locating in Jamestown

A new business is planning to open a manufacturing facility in Jamestown.

Mowing with a Breeze is a start-up company that will be basing its manufacturing in Jamestown, starting off with 10-20 employees. The company produces specialized vented hoods that filter air that is blown through the device, while filtering out pollen, dust, and other allergens that affect people while performing tasks like mowing.

Several representatives from the company were at the Jamestown City Council meeting Thursday as Mayor Nick Shearer announced their plans to locate in the city on Ferco Way.

“It’s a vented hood,” Michael Fultz, one of the key developers of the product, said. “So whoever is using it, whether they’re mowing, bush hogging, on a tractor, or whatever, they don’t have to breathe in dust and other allergens, it’s a vented and filtered air.”

All the manufacturing will take place in Jamestown, Fultz said, utilizing 3D printers.

“We’re not outsourcing it,” Fultz said. “It’s a grassroots business. We started with nothing and we already have a lot of activity.”

The new company has also worked out a deal with Mark and Digger from the television show Moonshiners to be spokespersons for the company.

Terry Waddell, a Russell County magistrate, is also involved with the company.

He said the filter that is part of the product makes it stand out.

“The air is filtered before you even breathe it,” Waddell said. ” It’s really phenomenal what this thing does.”

There hasn’t been a date announced as to when the company will begin production, but the company plans to begin work in Jamestown soon.
