Beshear announces Return to Work incentive

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear announced a Return to Work initiative that will provide a one-time $1,500 payment to the first 15,000 unemployed claimants who return to work and their employment verification is verified.

The money is coming from federal COVID-19 relief funds that were distributed to Kentucky.

The unemployed residents need to find work and employment between the dates of June 24 and July 30 to qualify. They also need to currently be receiving the $300 benefits, 18 years or older, cannot already have a return-to-work date and have to have an active, non-fraudulent unemployment claim.

Participants must also be employed by a Kentucky business and have to begin work between the dates of June 24 and July 30.

Beshear said job verification will take place with the help of employers who will fill out online forms. The forms will include when the employees began work to ensure that it took place during the June 24-July 30 dates.

Employers will also need to verify that employees worked 120 hours in four weeks after employment. Beshear said the verification process came after a discussion with numerous business leaders in the state.

The job verification process will take place between Aug. 1 and Oct. 1.
