Lakers win doubleheader over Adair County, Franklin-Simpson

The Russell County Lakers were victorious in both games of a doubleheader on Saturday.

The Lakers defeated Adair County 11-1 with Cody Luttrell picking up the win on the mound.

Luttrell pitched five innings, giving up just one run on five hits and striking out five.

Aiden Antle, Nathan Lawson, and Nick Aaron drove in three runs each for the Lakers. Maxon Gosser drove in one run.

In 4th Region action, the Lakers defeated Franklin-Simpson by a score of 7-3.

The Lakers fell behind 3-0 early, but rallied back and held the Wildcats scoreless the remainder of the game.

Nathan Lawson picked up the win on the mound, pitching six innings and giving up three runs on three hits while striking out 10.

Nick Aaron entered in relief, pitching one scoreless inning, giving up no hits and striking out one.

Aiden Antle drove in two runs for the Lakers, and Bryce Cowell, Gavin Gossage, and Nathan Lawson drove in one each.

With the two victories, the Lakers are now 25-5 on the season.

The Lakers will host Rockcastle County today. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
