It was an emotional afternoon Saturday, as friends and family of the late Debbie Russell gathered at ArtWorks on Main in Jamestown to remember “Ms. Debbie.”
An indoor ceremony included songs, poetry readings, dancing, and sharing memories, followed by an outdoor ceremony across the street with a dedication of a flower garden and magnolia tree planted in remembrance of Debbie.
Debbie Russell passed away in early March after a battle with COVID-19. A scholarship fund has been set up in her memory. The fund will provide scholarships for the Smart Start Arts immerson Pre-K program and Visual Arts classes. Donations can be made online at www.artworksrc.org/honoring-ms-debbie
