Russell Springs City Council to meet tonight

The Russell Springs City Council will hold its regular monthly meeting this evening at 6 p.m. at City Hall.

The city is planning to recognize Assistant Police Chief Melissa Taylor, who is retiring after more than 17 years of service to the Russell Springs Police Department and more than 30 years of law enforcement.

The city is also planning to introduce new police officers recently hired for the department.

Also at tonight’s meeting, Mayor Eddie Thomas is expected to give details about a large-scale sewer project in the city that will address some of the city’s most pressing water and sewer needs.

The project will address infiltration and inflow in portions of the sewer system along Highway 80, Butler Drive, and Roy Drive.

The project, totaling more than $680,000, is funded in large part by the Kentucky Infrastructure Authority through a very low-interest loan to the city with the condition that a portion will be forgiven through a debt forgiveness program.
