Lawson’s shutout, four hits lead Lakers to victory

Russell County Lakers pitcher Nathan Lawson pitched a full-game shutout and the Lakers were able to score 9 runs en route to a 9-0 victory over Whitley County Thursday.

Lawson allowed just three hits over seven innings, striking out nine batters along the way to the win.

Lawson had a big day at the plate too, going 4-5 including two doubles and driving in two runs.

Maxon Gosser and Gavin Gossage each drove in two runs for the Lakers, while Issac Roy and Aiden Antle each drove in one.

Alex Reynolds led the team in runs scored with three.

The Lakers are now 3-2 on the season and will play their fourth game in four days today as they are on the road at Bowling Green.

First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
