Lakers JV falls 7-1 to Whitley County

The Russell County Lakers JV team fell short against Whitley County by a score of 7-1 Thursday.

The Lakers trailed 2-1 after three innings, but Whitley County scored five runs in the fourth inning that ultimately put the game away.

Landon Walters pitched 3 1/3 innings for the Lakers, giving up five hits and five runs (two earned), striking out three and walking three.

Adam Walters pitched 1/3 of an inning, giving up two runs, walking two and striking out one.

Riley Hammond also took the mound for the Lakers, pitching 1 1/3 innings, allowing just one hit and striking out one, while walking one.

Lincoln Helm drove in the lone run for the Lakers, who are now 3-2 on the season.
