The Russell County Laker Baseball team shutout Rockcastle County Thursday night by a score of 16-0.
It was a big game for Nathan Lawson, who pitched a complete-game shutout by going six innings and striking out eight batters, while only giving up four hits.
Lawson also hit a three-run homerun in the sixth inning that moved the lead from 13-0 to 16-0.
A seven-run sixth inning sealed the early victory for the Lakers, who moved to 6-3 on the year with the victory.
Evan Hammond drove in three runs, Nick Aaron and Aiden Antle drove in two each, while Gavin Gossage, Noah Hadley, and Logan Lawless each drove in a run.
Antle led the team with three hits on the night.
JV team defeats Rockcastle 10-1
The Russell County Lakers JV squad also picked up a win over Rockcastle County with a final score of 10-1.
Jacob Kemp drove in two runs for the Lakers, while Alex Reynolds, Bryce Cowell, and Mason Buras each drove in one run.
Landon Walters picked up the win on the mound for the Lakers. Walters pitched two shoutout innings, giving up only one hit and striking out four batters.
Wyatt Dye entered the game in relief, pitching three innings, giving up three hits and one run, while striking out six batters.
