The Russell County Lakers jumped out to an early 11-3 lead over Adair County Monday, finishing the night with a 16-7 win.
Russell County senior Issac Roy had a big night at the plate, driving in five runs to lead the Lakers to victory.
Roy finished the night 3-5 from the plate, including a three-run homerun in the second inning. CJ Vonfumetti also hit a homerun as part of a 2-5 night at the plate.
Aiden Antle, Gavin Gossage, Maxon Gosser, and Evan Hammond drove in two runs each for the Lakers, while Nick Aaron also drove in a run.
Aaron picked up the win on the mound for the Lakers, pitching three innings, giving up six runs, and striking out six batters. Aiden Antle entered the game in relief, pitching four innings and giving up one run on five hits while striking out four batters.
The Lakers move to 13-3 on the season, and will take on Metcalfe County in a district matchup Tuesday night. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at Laker Field.
