A horse owned by a local doctor will be running in tomorrow’s Kentucky Derby.
O Besos, owned by Dr. Barrett Bernard, will be racing from the 6th post and currently sits at 20-1 odds to win the Run for the Roses.
The horse is trained by Greg Foley, who spent his early years in Russell County and is the son of Russell County native Dravo Foley.
“Greg is an incredible, respected trainer,” Bernard said. “He’s a true horseman. Our horse is in very good hands.”
Racing in the Kentucky Derby is an incredible feat. With just 20 horses selected to participate in horse racing’s biggest event, Bernard said the experience is surreal.
“Sometimes I just look around and think, wow we’re here,” Bernard said. “It’s a really big deal. We’re just blessed to be here. We’re really fortunate.”
