Eli Fire Department responds to house fire on Friday

The Eli Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fire at 74 D Rexroat Lane Friday afternoon.

Fire Chief Marty Kazsuk said the department responded to the residence at approximately 4:11 p.m. Friday to a fire reported by an occupant inside. Upon arrival, crews found the residence heavily involved in fire.

The occupant of the home was asleep when the fire started, but was awoken by smoke detectors and was able to safely make it out of the home.

The home was owned by Linda Collins and sustained heavy damage.

The Eli Volunteer Fire Department and the Russell Springs Police Department were able to extinguish the flames. Twelve personnel from Eli responded, along with six from Russell Springs. Personnel were on scene for approximately three hours.

South Kentucky RECC and the Russell County Sheriff’s Office also responded.
