Catch a Rainbow Fishing Derby cancelled this year

The decision has been made to CANCEL the 2021 Catch A Rainbow Kids Fishing Derby scheduled for June 5, 2021, at the Wolf Creek National Fish Hatchery.
Last year’s event would have been the 34th and this year would have been the 35th. Catch A Rainbow typically has around 1,400 participants, ages 1-15. Including volunteers, parents, etc. the entire crowd is around 3,500. Participants attend from many communities across Kentucky, as well as many other states.
Due to federal, state and local guidelines in place for COVID-19, and with the utmost consideration for the health and well-being of the public, volunteers, and staff, this is the best decision for all.
With the event being held on federal property we would have to follow all current policies for federal facilities, which are, required mask, maintaining 6 ft social distancing and 25% occupancy levels. With an event like Catch A Rainbow, these would not be possible.
The Visitor/Environmental Education Center, Hatchery Building, Raceway Area, Nature Trail, Hatchery Creek, and other hatchery facilities are open to the public, utilizing the safety guidelines described above.
