The Russell County Lakers and Lady Lakers Basketball teams begin 16th District Tournament play this week.
The Lakers take on Metcalfe County tonight at 6 p.m. at Cumberland County High School. The winner will clinch a spot in the 4th Region Tournament.
Yesterday, the Clinton County Bulldogs defeated Cumberland County 60-53 to clinch a spot in the 16th District Championship.
The boys 16th District Championship will take place Thursday night at 7 p.m. at Cumberland County.
The top-seeded Lady Lakers will face off against Cumberland County Tuesday night at 6 p.m.
The winner will clinch a spot in the 4th Region Tournament and secure a spot in the district title game against either Metcalfe or Clinton County Friday night at 7 p.m.
