The Russell County Lady Lakers went on the road Thursday night to take on the 4th region’s third-ranked team of Greenwood High School in Bowling Green.
The Lady Lakers trailed at halftime 30-26. Greenwood increased their lead to 9 midway thru the third quarter, before the Lakers fought back to tie the game at 40-40. Greenwood hit some key baskets and the Lady Lakers missed some free throws down the stretch to give Greenwood the victory, 61 to 56.
Russell County was led in scoring by Senior Star Marcum with 17 points, while Juliah Bault and Sophie Shearer finished with 14 points each.
The Lady Lakers will be on the road again Friday night when they travel to Taylor County.
