Aubrey Johnson, age 93, of Jamestown, died Saturday, September 19, 2020 at the Russell County Hospital.
He was born January 20, 1927 in Russell County to the late
Okle and Flora Gaskin Johnson. He was employed by Russell County School District, holding various positions throughout his 31 years of employment. Aubrey Johnson taught Health & PE, and was the basketball coach at Russell
County High School from 1960 thru 1963, was principal at Jamestown Elementary, and served also as Director of Transportation.
Upon retirement as a public educator, Aubrey went into cattle farming full time. He was a member of Jamestown United Methodist Church.
Aubrey Johnson was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Verta Norris Johnson.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by:
2 brothers Glendo Johnson and a infant brother, 3 sisters Doris Aaron Mary Morgan & Janis Aaron.
Survivors include:
1 son: Rodney (Beth Ann) Johnson, of Jamestown
2 granddaughters: Macey Johnson and Morgan Johnson, both of Jamestown
1 brother: Benge Johnson, of Russell Springs
1 sister: Faye Harness, of Cincinnati, Ohio
Funeral service for Aubrey Johnson will be Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at 11:00 AM at the Bernard Funeral Home in Russell Springs with Rev. Barry Bradshaw, Rev. David Calhoun & Hon. Jeff Hoover officiating.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4-8 PM. Tuesday, September 22, 2020 with burial in the Jamestown Cemetery.
