Yesterday was not a good day for COVID-19 cases in the Lake Cumberland area. There were 29 total new cases in the area, with 10 of those being in Casey county and 7 new cases in Russell County.
County Judge-Executive Gary Robertson says the 7 new cases in Russell County include a three-month old child and a 16-year-old boy. Russell County now has 22 active cases as 5 persons were released yesterday from home isolation.
Gov. Andy Beshear announced yesterday 477 new cases of COVID-19 across the state, along with 10 more deaths from the virus, putting the state’s death toll now at 645.
For five out of the last seven days, the daily number of new cases in Kentucky has exceeded 400.
Lake Cumberland Health Department officials say the area’s total case count is projected to double every 14.2 days.
