Will the fiscal court accept any new bids submitted for blacktop and rock for county roads?
That is one of the questions the court will answer on Monday night during the regular monthly meeting at the courthouse in Jamestown. Last month, the court rejected the only bid submitted, which was from Gaddie Shamrock, saying the bid was too high and the county had other options. Some viewed the move by the county leaders as an attempt to pressure Gaddie into lowering its bids.
The magistrates voted at that meeting to request Gaddie Shamrock submit a new bid for consideration. Gaddie Shamrock has had the county bid for blacktop and rock for many, many years.
Will Gaddie submit a lower bid? Will any other companies submit bids? Those questions may be answered on Monday night.
