Jamestown Man Airlifted Following Automobile Accident Tuesday

A 33-year-old Jamestown man was seriously injured as a result of a one vehicle accident last night around 8:30.   

Authorities say Cody Wayne Downey was traveling south on highway 1680, near the Pleasant Hill community, when he lost control of the 2004 Chevy Suburban he was driving, left the roadway, and struck a tree.  

Downey was airlifted from the scene of the wreck and taken to the University of Kentucky hospital in Lexington. Deputy Sheriff Corey Meyer is leading the investigation.  

Deputy Meyer was assisted at the scene by members of the Russell County Sheriff’s department, Russell County EMS, Jamestown Fire Department, and Kentucky State Police
