Laker Sports Report for Monday, September 21st

In Laker sports action over the weekend and on schedule for Monday:

***The Russell County Laker football team improved to 2 and 0 on the season with at 49 to 12 victory on Friday over Warren East at Ron Finley Field.    The Lakers will travel to Bowling Green this Friday night to take on Warren Central.   Kick off set for 7 o’clock.   For a gallery of action photos from Friday night’s Russell County-Warren East matchup, go to the all new Facebook page, WJRS 104.9 FM Laker Country.

***The Lady Laker volleyball team traveled to Scottsville on Saturday for the Lady Patriot Southern Kentucky Invitational at Allen County Scottsville High School.   The Lady Lakers lost their opening match to Bardstown Bethlehem, 2 to 1, but came back and got victories over Allen County-Scottsville, 2 to 1, and over Edmondson County, 2 to 1.   The volleyball team will be at home on Monday afternoon to take on Rockcastle County for JV and Varsity matchups.   JV game starts at 5 o’clock Monday.

***Also on Saturday, the Russell County Middle school 6th grade girls basketball team was in action against North Laurel.   The Laker 6th graders losing the first game, 29 to 19.  McKenna Ccamaque had 7 points to lead the scoring.  The Laker 6th graders lost the second game, 32 to 12.   Piper Garmon had 6 points to lead the scoring.

***The RCMS 7th and 8th girls basketball teams will be on the road Monday night for games at Casey County.   The 7th grade game starts at 5 o’clock Monday.

***The Laker boys soccer team will be at home on Monday to take on Wayne County at the Laker soccer field.    The Lady Laker soccer team will travel to Wayne County for a matchup in Monticello.

***On Tuesday night, the RCMS football team will be at home to take on Adair County at Ron Finley Field.  Kickoff set for 6 o’clock Tuesday.
