Man indicted after breaking into circuit clerk’s office

A Russell County man has been indicted by a Russell County grand jury after allegedly entering the secure area of the Russell County Judicial Center last year.

Ernesto Trevino, 33, of Jamestown, was indicted on charges of burglary third degree, criminal mischief first degree, disorderly conduct first degree, obstructing governmental operations, menacing, two counts of assault third degree for hitting sheriff’s deputies, and resisting arrest.

According to reports at the time of the incident, The Russell County Sheriff’s Office, Jamestown Police, and Russell Springs Police responded to a call at about 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 30 where officers located a man, identified as Trevino, inside the Circuit Clerk’s Office area where he had gained access to a room through a door next to the clerk’s office.

Others indicted by the grand jury include:

  • Travis Miller, age 39, was charged with driving under the influence second offense, trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and being a persistent felony offender.
  • Kathy Sutton and Phillip Sutton of Jamestown were charged with identity theft, trafficking in a controlled substance, and trafficking in a legend drug, engaging in organized crime, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • David Stargle, 50, of Russell Springs, was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance first degree, trafficking in a legend drug, trafficking in a controlled substance third degree, engaging in organized crime, and being a persistent felony offender.
  • Andrew Rhodes, 35, of Jamestown, was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance first degree, trafficking in a legend drug, trafficking in a controlled substance third degree, and engaging in organized crime.
  • Christina Morgan, age 33, of Jamestown, was charged with bail jumping first degree and being a persistent felony offender.
  • Timothy Mullins, age 41, of Clay City, was charged with bail jumping first degree and being a persistent felony offender.
  • Dustin Daniels, age 36, of Russell Springs, charged with bail jumping first degree.
  • Terry Popplewell, age 43, of Russell Springs, was charged with bail jumping first degree.
  • Sandra G. Dix, age 51, of Jamestown, charged with failure to wear a seat belt, operating on a suspended license, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Adam Lee, age 40, of Russell Springs, charged with speeding 15 mph or more over the limit, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Jeremy Boutwell, age 24, of Columbia, charged with public intoxication, possession of marijuana, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and tampering with physical evidence.
  • Timothy Helm, age 37, of Nancy, charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
  • Nicklas A. Kelsay, age 22, of Russell Springs, charged with fleeing or evading police first degree, receiving stolen property $1,000 or more; criminal mischief first degree, and driving under the influence first offense.
  • Heith Necessary, age 40, of Russell Springs, charged with possession of methamphetamine, and possession of marijuana.
  • James M. Whitaker, age 29, of Columbia, charged with fleeing or evading police first degree, wanton endangerment first degree, criminal mischief first degree, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest, and being a persistent felony offender.
  • David M. Stargle, age 50, of Russell Springs, charged with burglary second degree, theft by unlawful taking over $1000, tampering with physical evidence, and being a persistent felony offender first degree.
  • Scotty Hopper, age 57, of Russell Springs, charged with failure to comply with sex offender registry.
  • Jeffrey Newland, age 36, of Russell Springs, charged with possession of fentanyl, driving under the influence first offense, and driving on a DUI-suspended license.
  • Derrick A. Robertson, age 37, of Russell Springs, charged with driving under the influence first offense, trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance second degree, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Jeffrey Helton and Dustin Popplewell, of Jamestown, charged with theft by unlawful taking under $1000, tampering with physical evidence, and being a persistent felony offender first degree.
