Mailed Drug Package Leads to Two Arrests in Columbia

Two Clarksville, Tennessee men were arrested Monday in Columbia after Kentucky State Police intercepted a package containing suspected drugs.

According to arrest citations, KSP detectives received information that the package was being mailed to a residence in Adair County. Detectives contacted the men moments after the package was picked up at the Columbia post office and placed into a vehicle.

A search turned up five pounds of marijuana, suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Forty-year-old Cruz Silvestrc Martinez and forty-eight-year-old Rafeal Pirez were arrested by KSP Detective George Atwood. Both were charged with trafficking in five or more pounds of marijuana. Martinez was also charged with possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Both men were lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail.
